Victoria Cross commemorative paving stones

A campaign to honour Victoria Cross recipients from the first world war was announced in August 2013. As part of this, a commemorative paving stone will be laid at the birthplace of Victoria Cross recipients to honour their bravery, provide a lasting legacy of local heroes within communities and allow residents to better understand how their area fits into the First World War story.

Working with Charlie MacKeith's winning design, we have etched each VC recipient's name into Scoutmoor stone pavers. A total of 628 Victoria Crosses were awarded during the First World War.
